Privacy policy

This is the privacy policy of Persafe B.V. (hereinafter referred to as “Persafe”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a company based in The Netherlands at the address Takkebijsters 3, 4817 BL Breda. Persafe is registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number 65059964. In our Privacy Policy we explain how we collect, use, share and protect information in relation to delivering our services and products (the “Service”) in the most effective way and especially how the information can help the user of the Service. We collect this information in case you choose to be a user of our services and products. We process personal data in a manner that is in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”), the GDPR-based legislation and other current privacy legislation.

Persafe believes that privacy is one of the most important things close in line with the services we offer. Your personal information is therefore treated very carefully and is well secured. In this privacy statement we do not only explain how we handle your personal data, but especially why your information is important for delivering our Services in the most effective way to you as a user.

Type of data and purpose

To use the Service of Persafe, a person needs to purchase a subscription (subscription holder) or has to log in as a user within the subscription. The subscription holder defines how many registered users will be active within the subscription (number of licensees). All of the registered users will individually be assigned to a personal username and password for login on the Persafe application. Therefore, Persafe collects various personal data of different persons.

Why would you share your GPS location details?

The information about your actual GPS location is one of the most important sources of data for the Services that Persafe provides and runs constantly in the background. Generally, this information will be very important for the following two services.

Why do you want to share your online status?

Each Persafe user decides which other Persafe users can see his/her actual online status and can personalise these settings at any time. As a user you communicate your online status to other Persafe users via your user icon. Whether your user icon is positioned on a map (sharing GPS-location) or not is depending on your settings. Persafe differentiates 6 unique online statuses, namely;

In the normal (green) situation your user icon communicates ‘Online’ status. As soon as you activate the blue slider, your user icon communicates ‘occupied/need for assistance’ status. The same applies to the situation where an emergency alarm is triggered, the status of your user icon changes to red “emergency” status. When a responder accepts an emergency request, the icon of this responder changes to yellow meaning “active responder”. If user has activated the “absent” function or has switched the app OFF the user icon turns grey. If a user has lost connection to the Persafe alarm server for a longer time period, the user icon includes a traffic sign to reflect this.

Why would you give permission to Persafe to access your microphone?

In case of an emergency situation, it is important to have as much critical real-time information available as possible to assess the situation and to provide effective help. Because of this reason, we included a function that automatically let the microphone and your mobile phone start recording and streaming audio from the moment the alarm is triggered. The active responder, who has accepted the emergency request, can listen to the audio recordings. Furthermore, we included another function where the active responder can set up a direct speak/listen call on the handsfree speaker and microphone of the person in alarm. This way the person in emergency can directly speak to the responder even if he/she cannot operate the phone anymore. When you give Persafe permission to the use of the microphone, it will only explicitly be switched on in the event of an emergency situation or assistance request and for no other reason.

Why would you add extra personal information to your account profile (voluntary)?

Relevant personal information during emergency situations might include medication, allergies, disorders, medical conditions or other information you feel relevant. But it can also be other important information for the responders to know, for example that you live in an apartment building on the 5th floor.
